Main Focus
During my doctoral and postdoctoral studies, my research aimed to understand the mechanisms of ecological adaptation and the relationship between spatial variations in ecological conditions and differentiation. This included examining the impacts of anthropogenic alterations such as global warming, landscape changes, and invasive species. Working with populations that were potentially connected through migrations highlighted the tension between the differentiating effect of selection under distinct environmental conditions and the homogenizing effect of gene flow. To investigate these questions, I employed a wide range of approaches, including collecting field data, conducting quantitative genetic studies, and utilizing molecular population genetics techniques. Currently, I am part of the team led by Frederic Bartumeus (CEAB-CSIC), focusing on the ecological aspects of mosquito-borne diseases. We study the population dynamics of both the vectors and the reservoirs (birds), as well as the dispersal capacity of these organisms.
