Main Focus
My major
interest is to study and understand patterns and processes with little
restrictions on taxonomic groups. However, over the years I have become most
involved with birds – especially ducks – and mammals. Besides these groups I
happily study any system, with an emphasis on genetic techniques in Molecular
Ecology, Evolution and Conservation. Interdisciplinary aspects and
collaboration attract me a lot more than high specialization on narrowed-down
topics. During my undergraduate and PhD education, and also during my
postdoctoral experiences, I was allowed to develop a strong interest for the
combination of (population) genetics and ecological/organismal questions, as
well as becoming involved in more applied fields of conservation genetics. I
like to share ideas and work in a team environment, where all members profit
from the resulting synergy. Therefore, I believe in an open and collaborative
atmosphere.
My research
interests span, but are not necessarily restricted to:
Evolutionary
biology, population genetics, conservation genetics, phylogenetics, biodiversity,
advanced molecular techniques such as, next generation sequencing and genomics

interesting, or would just like to get in touch with me for any other reason,
feel free to contact me. I am looking forward to hearing from you and maybe
building up the next project within our collaboration.
